Mr. and Mrs Macé acquires the property Le Cone in 2001. It is then a wine-making property of 9ha. Today, it has almost 52ha and three names of Chateau : Chateau Marquis de Vauban, Chateau Le Cone and Chateau La Voile d'Or. These three labels allow us to point out the diversity of our “terroir” and the know-how of our wine growers while paying tribute to the rich history of Blaye, in particular in the 17th century at the time of Vauban and Louis XIV. Today, on the advice of Eric Boissenot, oenologist-consultant for the greatest grands crus of Bordeaux (Margaux, Lafite, Latour…), David Cartereau our oenologist develops a high quality wine appreciated all over the world.
At 600m of the Citadel of Blaye, classified in the UNESCO world heritage, along the estuary, the entire team of Chateau Marquis de Vauban is waiting for you to give you an unforgettable day full of conviviality and sharing. After a journey back in time to learn about the history of Blaye and Aquitaine, we shall share our passion for the wine while discovering how to make a great wine, from the vines to the wine-cellar.
Stay with us for the lunch and share an authentic wine grower’s moment in the old cellars of the Chateau. During this lunch, you will discover great products of the gastronomy of Bordeaux with a 4-courses menu while tasting some of the best wine of the Chateau.
You can hear the sound of the horse’s steps on the pathway and you are immediately teleported back to the 17th century. Let’s go in one of our elegant horse carriage to visit the Citadel of Blaye and its beautiful points of view on the estuary of the Gironde.
